Small but growing manufacturer of delicious, packaged foods headquartered in St. Louis is seeking a talented Accounting Manager to work closely with the CFO to implement standard cost accounting and oversee the general ledger and internal financial reporting, as well as lead a staff of 3. The ideal candidate will have 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, a growth mindset, value collaboration, and be hungry to grow into a Controller. RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Cost Accounting and Accounting Controls
  • Financial Reporting and Accounting Analysis
  • Supervisory duties to include – recruitment, hiring, training, discipline & termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy
  • Cost Accounting and Accounting controls
  • Supervise the accounting team, ensuring accurate and timely financial close.
  • Perform product costing and ensure the accuracy of inventory and cost of goods sold including direct and indirect costs.
  • Ensure adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and other relevant regulations.
  • Review and enhance internal controls and guidelines for accounting and coordinate with other departments on policies
  • Ensure there is a clear segregation of duties and create mitigating controls.
  • Participate in the ERP implementation and ensure controls are in place.
  • Work closely with auditors and manage the relationship.
  • Ensure compensation is booked correctly by department.
  • Financial Reporting and Accounting Analysis
  • Track capital spending and projects
  • Maintain accounting schedules such as depreciation, prepaids, and accruals.
  • Compare actuals to budget and determine areas of improvements.
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Work closely with pricing to calculate and allocate production costs by line, product family, and product.
  • Assist in long-term financial planning and strategic initiatives.
  • Supervisory duties to include – recruitment, hiring, training, discipline & termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy
  • Lead, mentor, and train accounting staff, fostering a high-performing team.
  • Establish and maintain accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance and consistency.
  • Oversee the preparation and submission of tax returns and ensure compliance with tax regulations.
  • Coordinate with external auditors during annual audits and manage audit processes.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 5 years accounting experience, cost accounting experience preferred.
  • Experience in accounting management or supervisory preferred.
  • Manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and managerial skills.
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
  • Thorough understanding of the policies within accounting.
  • Ability to motivate and organize multiple efforts to accomplish goals.
