Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to join our accounting team. This role will report directly to the Controller and oversee a small team of staff accountants. The ideal candidate will have a solid foundation in accounting principles, strong experience managing month-end close processes, and a hands-on approach to leading and mentoring a team. Proficiency with accounting software and a continuous improvement mindset are key to success in this role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Supervise, coach, and develop a team of accountants, fostering a high-performance and team-oriented culture.
  • Review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reports for accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
  • Assist in the preparation of internal financial reports and analysis for senior management.
  • Partner with the Controller to improve accounting processes, controls, and systems.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulatory requirements.
  • Support annual audit and tax processes by working directly with external auditors and tax advisors.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with other departments to support business initiatives and information needs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including month-end close responsibilities.
  • Prior supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and internal control frameworks.
  • Proficient with accounting software systems (e.g., NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, Sage, or similar) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Self-motivated with a proactive and hands-on approach to problem-solving.
