We are recruiting for a growing midsize private company headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri. This company has a tremendous company culture and is a market leader. As they expand, they are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Corporate Accountant to join their dynamic team. This role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to the company’s financial operations and play a key part in building their accounting and financial reporting infrastructure.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Corporate Accountant will report directly to the Assistant Controller and be a vital contributor to the company’s accounting and financial reporting functions. In addition to managing day-to-day accounting activities, this individual will assist in developing and implementing standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and compliance within the accounting department.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, including journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end closing activities.
- Assist in the preparation of financial statements and internal management reports.
- Support the development, implementation, and documentation of accounting policies, procedures, and SOPs.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts and perform variance analyses.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
- Assist in audits, including preparing schedules and responding to auditor inquiries.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement within the accounting function and recommend solutions.
- Ensure compliance with applicable financial regulations and company policies.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience within public accounting or a corporate accounting department.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel (e.g., VLOOKUP, pivot tables).
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- CPA designation (or progress toward CPA) is preferred but not required.
- Solid background with computerized accounting systems, experience with Dynamics GP preferred but not required.
