We are searching for a Corporate Controller for a pre-IPO startup headquartered in Clayton. The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of experience, including public accounting audit and controllership/month-end close leadership experience, as well as strong knowledge of GAAP, SEC reporting, and Sarbanes Oxley (SOx) compliance.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop internal control policies, guidelines, and procedures for activities, such as budget administration, cash and credit management, and accounting
- Prepare or direct preparation of financial statements, business activity reports, financial position forecasts, annual budgets, or reports required by regulatory agencies
- Monitor and evaluate the performance of accounting
- Conduct or coordinate audits of company accounts and financial transactions to ensure compliance with state and federal requirements and statutes
- Supervise employees performing financial reporting, accounting, billing, collections, payroll, and budgeting duties
- Determine depreciation rates to apply to capitalized items and advise management on actions regarding the purchase, lease, or disposal of such items
- Evaluate needs for procurement of funds and investment of surpluses and make appropriate recommendations
- Delegate authority for the receipt, disbursement, banking, protection, and custody of funds, securities, and financial instruments
- Develop and maintain relationships with banking, insurance, and external accounting personnel to facilitate financial activities
- Monitor financial activities and details, such as cash flow and reserve levels, to ensure that all legal and regulatory requirements are met
- Other tasks as deemed necessary
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Business Management, Finance, or Accounting
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
- 10+ years relevant experience
- 2+ years of Controllership/month-end close leadership experience
- Public company experience including knowledge of SEC reporting and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOx) compliance
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with proven negotiation skills

- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
