Position Overview

A growing organization in the infrastructure/utilities sector is seeking a Finance Manager to join its finance function. This position will initially operate as an individual contributor and is suited for a candidate who demonstrates strong analytical capability, sound judgment, and the ability to collaborate closely with operational teams.

This role differs from traditional financial planning and analysis positions in that it requires direct engagement with field personnel and operational leadership to develop a comprehensive understanding of business performance drivers. The successful candidate will translate operational activity into meaningful financial insights that support decision-making.

Responsibilities

Financial and Operational Analysis

  • Partner with regional leadership and field personnel to assess cost drivers and operational performance
  • Conduct site visits and field observations, as needed
  • Analyze and identify underlying causes of cost fluctuations

Forecasting and Performance Monitoring

  • Support forecasting processes, including periodic reforecasts
  • Perform variance analysis and recommend actions to improve forecast accuracy

Capital and Cost Management

  • Provide visibility into capital expenditures versus operating expenses
  • Review and validate project timelines, scope, and associated financial impacts

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work collaboratively with operations, engineering, and finance teams to align financial and operational objectives

Strategic and Transactional Support

  • Contribute to financial narratives and support transaction-related activities, as applicable

Qualifications

Required

  • Advanced proficiency in spreadsheet-based financial analysis (e.g., Excel)
  • Ability to interpret operational data and translate it into financial insights
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to present financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders
  • High level of organization and attention to detail

Preferred

  • Approximately 3–6 years of relevant professional experience
  • Background in operations, consulting, or entrepreneurial environments
  • Experience with forecasting, financial analysis, or transaction support
  • Exposure to high-growth or rapidly evolving organizations
  • Demonstrated intellectual curiosity and willingness to question assumptions
