A long-established private family office is seeking an experienced accounting and financial professional to support the financial administration of a diversified portfolio of investments, family entities, and other assets. This position will have broad exposure to accounting, tax, cash management, family office administration, and investment-related activities.

The successful candidate will be a highly organized and independent professional who takes ownership of their work, exercises sound judgment, and is comfortable handling confidential financial information. The family office operates alongside a family-owned investment organization and offers an opportunity for someone who wants to develop a long-term career with increasing responsibility.

Over time, the scope of the position may expand beyond core financial and administrative responsibilities into areas of investment analysis and portfolio management.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting, Financial Reporting & Tax

  • Oversee day-to-day accounting activities for family entities, investment structures, and related businesses, including general ledger maintenance, account reconciliations, and financial recordkeeping.

  • Prepare consolidated financial information, cash flow projections, and other analyses used for tax, estate, liquidity, and investment planning.

  • Manage or oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and related financial administration for family members, investment entities, and two small operating businesses.

  • Coordinate tax compliance and planning activities with an external Big Four accounting firm.

  • Prepare and organize financial information, tax basis schedules, projections, and supporting documentation for external tax advisors.

  • Review individual, trust, and entity tax returns and assist with identifying and addressing complex tax issues.

  • Coordinate tax filings, compliance requirements, and other deadlines while contributing to tax planning and related decision-making.

Family Office & Financial Administration

  • Serve as a primary point of contact with banks, investment firms, asset managers, attorneys, tax professionals, and other outside advisors.

  • Coordinate financial and administrative matters on behalf of family members and related entities.

  • Oversee vendor relationships, payment activity, and other ongoing family office administrative functions.

  • Maintain accurate financial records, documentation, and compliance information using established technology and document management systems.

  • Handle sensitive financial and personal information with a high degree of discretion and confidentiality.

Investment & Portfolio Support

  • Assist with ongoing investment reporting, performance monitoring, and analysis in coordination with internal stakeholders and external investment service providers.

  • Review investment statements and related information and help maintain systems used to track portfolio performance and asset information.

  • Perform research and financial analysis related to asset allocation, investment opportunities, and investment manager selection.

  • Support the evaluation of investment strategies and managers as directed.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline; CPA designation strongly preferred.

  • At least five years of relevant experience in areas such as tax advisory, family office accounting, private client services, public accounting, or a similar professional environment.

  • Strong working knowledge of taxation involving individuals, trusts, partnerships, corporations, and other entities.

  • Advanced Excel skills and demonstrated proficiency with accounting, financial reporting, and document management systems.

  • Exceptional integrity and discretion when handling confidential financial and family matters.

  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and a demonstrated commitment to producing accurate, complete work.

  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking capabilities with the ability to independently identify issues and develop solutions.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to establish credibility and develop effective working relationships with family members, investment professionals, attorneys, accountants, vendors, and other advisors.

  • Self-directed and comfortable working in an environment where sound judgment, initiative, and accountability are highly valued.
