Unique, growing, innovative, reslient company in the entertainment business headquartered in St. Louis is seeking an experienced Controller to elevate their Accounting & Financial Reporting function.
We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Controller to lead the company’s accounting operations and serve as a trusted partner to the CFO and executive leadership team. This individual will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the company’s financial reporting while strengthening internal controls, improving processes, and providing the financial infrastructure necessary to support continued growth.
The ideal candidate combines strong technical accounting expertise with operational leadership, enjoys building scalable processes, and thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Close Process
- Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process while ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Prepare internal financial statements, management reporting packages, and variance analyses.
- Partner with the CFO on budgeting, forecasting, and strategic financial planning.
- Deliver financial insights that support operational and executive decision-making.
Accounting Operations
- Oversee all day-to-day accounting functions, including:
- General Ledger
- Accounts Payable
- Payroll
- Treasury/Cash Management
- Ensure the integrity of accounting records and compliance with GAAP and company policies.
- Maintain accounting support for affiliated entities and international operations.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Manage federal, state, and local tax compliance, including payroll, sales/use, and property taxes.
- Coordinate debt covenant reporting, regulatory filings, and business licensing requirements.
- Develop, maintain, and continuously improve internal controls to safeguard company assets and strengthen financial accuracy.
Process Improvement & Systems
- Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes through automation and technology.
- Continue optimizing the company’s ERP environment and related financial systems.
- Standardize procedures and documentation to improve scalability and operational efficiency.
Leadership
- Lead, coach, and develop the accounting team while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Partner with leaders across operations, sales, and other departments to improve financial visibility and support business initiatives.
- Assist with hiring, onboarding, and developing future accounting talent.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
- CPA strongly preferred; MBA is a plus.
- 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibility.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge and financial reporting expertise.
- Experience leading month-end close, internal controls, budgeting, and compliance.
- ERP experience required; NetSuite experience preferred.
- Experience with Avalara or similar tax software is a plus.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables, complex formulas, and financial modeling.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
