Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee complex tax engagements, including planning, review, and delivery of federal, state, and local tax returns
- Serve as a trusted advisor and primary relationship lead for key tax clients, providing proactive tax planning strategies and solutions
- Provide strategic oversight for engagement planning, staffing, workflow management, and risk assessment across multiple engagements
- Review and approve complex tax returns, workpapers, and supporting documentation to ensure technical accuracy and compliance
- Research complex tax matters and provide technical leadership related to evolving tax legislation and regulatory changes
- Monitor legislative and economic developments and advise clients and internal teams regarding potential impacts and opportunities
- Manage engagement financial performance, including budgets, realization, work-in-progress, and profitability
- Communicate engagement status, risks, and key tax matters to firm leadership while recommending strategic solutions
- Mentor and develop high-performing teams through coaching, technical training, and leadership development
- Participate in recruiting, onboarding, and training initiatives that support the firm’s long-term talent strategy
- Support business development efforts, including identifying planning opportunities, expanding services, and participating in proposals and client presentations
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, referral sources, and community organizations
- Represent the firm within professional and industry organizations as appropriate
- Participate in firmwide initiatives focused on process improvement, innovation, and client service excellence
Qualifications
- CPA license required
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
- 8–10+ years of public accounting experience, preferably focused in tax
- Advanced knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations and compliance
- Experience leading complex tax engagements and managing multiple client relationships
- Strong tax planning and advisory capabilities
- Proven leadership experience mentoring and developing staff, seniors, and managers
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational, analytical, and strategic-thinking abilities
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining quality and efficiency
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications; experience with tax software preferred
- Experience with individual, partnership, corporate, and other entity taxation
