Profile
Corporate finance leader with extensive manufacturing industry experience and proven success in leading teams and developing individuals. Has built strong relationships between finance, operations and sales teams to pursue overall corporate objectives. Has experience in implementing accounting/ERP systems and managing change within organizations. Analytical thinker, unsatisfied with being a caretaker or accepting the status quo, has effectively worked to improve and optimize processes and systems. Experience renegotiating loan terms with lenders and managing banking relationships, some light M&A experience (exposure on buy-side and been through an acquisition on the sell-side), and has led multiple ERP implementations.
Career Highlight 1: I negotiated $7.9 million in incentives for the building of a $15 million distribution center in Alabama and the retention of current employees. At that time, we were leasing a warehouse in Montgomery, AL. I hired a site selection consultant and we visited Kansas, Missouri, Tennessee and Mississippi to tour sites and listen to local proposals for incentives. This forced Alabama to the table and they offered us excellent incentives to stay and build in the same industrial park where our lease was.
Career Highlight 2: Implemented cost reductions resulting in annual savings of more than $3 million by consolidating manufacturing operations and reducing overall waste. The company had a line of products that were seasonal and became vulnerable to adverse weather patterns. I convinced the leadership team that the best option for survival was to consolidate our manufacturing footprint, eliminate unnecessary spending and reduce overall headcount. These necessary moves ensured profitability based on nonseasonal product sales.
Career Highlight 3: Implemented a credit card convenience fee for Rawlings Sporting Goods that netted $500K annually. The company had at some point began accepting credit card payments to settle accounts that had terms (and sometimes freight allowances). We were then able to recover credit card processing fees we were paying by collecting the convenience fees or by avoiding credit card transactions through incentivizing the customer to pay by another method and eliminating a cash drain.
