Profile
I am a driven, hardworking man who has quickly climbed the ladder. I may not have all of the answers, but I care enough to find out. I am currently a CFO looking for the next adventure. I want to continue to grow with a company trying to do the same. I have been the CFO for a $20M construction business for 7+ years. During some of that time, I also served as Controller for a St. Louis restaurant. I worked in fractinal accounting/consulting before that. The more I grow, the more inpsired I become.
Career Highlight 1: In 2020/2021, I got two PPP Loans totaling almost $2M for my company. I also got over $400k in ERC credits.
Career Highlight 2: When I took over the position, the company was struggling to make payroll and had tax liens – federal and state. After setting up payment plans and getting some IRS penalties abated, we paid everything off and doubled the size of the company.
Career Highlight 3: I am most proud of my ability to wear many different hats, as is necessary with a small business. I have never said “that’s not my job.” I have done everything from bookkeeping to accounting, I file union reports, I am the de facto HR person, etc. I am also the de facto IT person, I will customize a report that management wants to see, I will do just about anything that is a good idea.
Why Hire This Candidate (In Their Own Words): I dream of owning a company one day, and I will run your company as if I own it. But at the same time, I will treat the employees with the ultimate respect. I will use what I know, along with your desired direction, to navigate to the destination.
Strengths: I am very analytical, but also intuitive enough to see the vision. I can do anything in the accounting world and can present data to management/owners/BOD. I work as hard as anyone and am not afraid to take risks.
Hobbies & Personal Interests: I play guitar and piano, and I love nature and animals. This is my creative outlet that balances against the analytical nature of accounting. I love reading non-fiction and listening to podcasts; I like to learn new things. My two kids are my world.
Education: Bachelor’s in Accounting
Credentials: I do not have a CPA license, so I’ve adapted street smarts.
Industry Experience: Business Services, Construction/Engineering, Financial Services, Logistics & Transport
Company Fit: Small and Medium
Management Experience: I have directly managed 2-3 people for the past seven years.
Software Experience: QuickBooks, Peachtree, Sage
Open To: Hybrid, In-office, Remote
