Responsibilities
- Plan, supervise, and manage tax compliance engagements from initial planning through final client delivery, including individual, corporate, partnership, and trust returns
- Lead engagement teams to ensure work is completed accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable tax laws and firm standards
- Serve as a primary client contact for assigned engagements and maintain strong client relationships
- Oversee engagement planning, timelines, staffing, budgets, and overall engagement execution
- Review tax returns, workpapers, and projections prepared by staff and senior accountants, providing coaching and developmental feedback
- Identify tax planning opportunities, risks, and recommendations for clients and firm leadership
- Manage multiple client engagements simultaneously while monitoring deadlines and profitability
- Research and resolve complex federal, state, and local tax matters
- Mentor and develop staff through training, guidance, and performance feedback
- Participate in recruiting, onboarding, and professional development initiatives
- Support business development efforts and identify opportunities to expand client relationships
- Contribute to operational improvement initiatives and client service enhancements
Qualifications
- CPA license required
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
- 7+ years of public accounting experience, preferably focused in tax
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax compliance
- Experience managing tax engagements and leading teams
- Experience reviewing complex tax returns and tax projections
- Strong client advisory and relationship management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- Strong leadership, organizational, and project management capabilities
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Excel and Word
- Experience with individual, business, and/or trust taxation preferred
